We did not invent a new expression of Christianity. We receive the faith handed down by the Apostles, confess it through the ancient Creeds, and seek to live it faithfully in every generation.

Anglican Christianity brings together biblical authority, apostolic faith, sacramental worship, and a shared life of prayer.
The ancient faith
Anglicans confess the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds and receive the teaching of the ancient, undivided Church under the authority of Scripture.
Word and Sacrament
Our worship joins the proclamation of the Gospel with the sacramental life of the Church, especially Holy Baptism and the Holy Eucharist.
Common prayer
The Book of Common Prayer gives the Church a shared pattern of worship, Scripture, prayer, and spiritual formation for ordinary Christian life.

Reformed Catholic
These two words hold together what Anglicans have received: the catholic faith and order of the ancient Church, reformed wherever teaching or practice has departed from God’s written Word.
Holy Cross is part of the Anglican Reformed Catholic Church. The ARCC looks to the Holy Scriptures, the three Creeds, the early Councils and Fathers, and the historic Anglican formularies—the Book of Common Prayer, the Ordinal, and the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion.

A few helpful answers
Is Anglicanism Catholic or Protestant?
Anglicanism is both catholic and reformed. It preserves the Creeds, Sacraments, historic ministry, and worship of the ancient Church while affirming the English Reformation’s recovery of Holy Scripture as the supreme authority for doctrine.
What is the Book of Common Prayer?
It is the Anglican Church’s shared book of worship and devotion. It orders services such as Holy Communion, Morning and Evening Prayer, Baptism, Marriage, and Burial, and gives Christians a time-tested pattern for daily prayer.
Do I need to understand the liturgy before visiting?
Not at all. The service is meant to form us over time. You may participate as you feel comfortable, follow the congregation, and ask questions afterward. A warm welcome matters more than already knowing what to do.
Why does Anglican worship feel historic?
The words, gestures, vestments, and seasons of worship connect today’s congregation with generations of Christians before us. They are not an end in themselves; they help direct our attention to Jesus Christ.
